we went out for lunch again - thanks to the mild(er) weather. had to still change a diaper in the booth (since there was nothing to change her on in the bathroom) as well as give her a short feeding, but it was all in all good to try a slower meal out at maggie brown, which we haven't been to in ages.
m got a burger with cheese and fries, and i got red beans and rice with salad. the food was both delicious, although we always leave feeling a little teeny bit gypped after eating there.

we went out to eat!
little bub was cooperative lately as was the weather, so we went for a walk and a lunch at a neighborhood thai restaurant we'd never tried before, for their lunch special.
we got fried chicken with tom yum gai (chicken), and green curry with shrimp with dumplings as appetizer. the appetizers were just so so but the fried chicken was delicious! green curry was a bit too salty for my taste, maybe from not having eaten outside food much for months.
but it was cheap and a good combo!

mmm fish taco wrap with beet/turnip/cabbage slaw m made the other night.
flaky crispy cod filets, guac, salsa, and cheese from tj's and the slaw makes it perfect!

jampong (or champon) on a cold cold day. this brand of noodles we used had a really spicy sauce.
i think i liked the previous brand better, but it was so good with clams m put in.

we were craving korean food so badly - something simple and homey.
so when m made a run for the CSA pickup in the city, he made another stop at m2m to load up on our banchan supply the other day. we got to enjoy this platter of banchan - gyeran-mari (rolled egg omelette with seaweed), soy sauce braised eggs, spicy dry squid, 3 different namul's (spinach, gosari, and bean sprout), with black rice. had we had some miso soup packets on hand, it would have been 200% satisfying, but for now, we settled at 100%. :)

Friday, February 7, 2014

hell yeah, "english" fry-up! we shared this huge platter (photo is deceiving) of baked beans, over-easy eggs, sausages, grilled tomatoes, sautéed mushrooms and kale. m really has been cooking up an amazing storm lately.

Wednesday, February 5, 2014

nothing better than soup & sandwich on cold wintry days.
except it was almost too much food for us! turkey chili & triple decker ham sandwich. so full!

Monday, February 3, 2014

one of my favorite meals these days when i wanna load up on vegetables, but want something warm and hearty - m's mac & cheese primavera! so good with kale, broccoli, peas, corns, and topped with extra cheese and herbs.

Sunday, February 2, 2014

fish "taco" at home. "taco" since we're using a burrito tortilla.
mmmm so delicious!

Thursday, January 30, 2014

amazing clam pasta m made for lunch today - mushrooms, smoked clams, fresh tomatoes, garlic, topped with cilatros in lieu of parsley. so oceany and light, yummy!!

Sunday, January 26, 2014

baby's 100th day table m put together!

Thursday, January 23, 2014

jajangmyun & jjampong from a premade package food. these were pretty dang good, but neither of us felt very good about ourselves afterwards.

Wednesday, January 22, 2014

m made this beautiful prime rib platter to celebrate our 10th anniversary!
prime rib from trader joe's, mashed potatoes & turnips, mashed sweet potatoes, and steamed cauliflower and broccoli. so amazing!!

Tuesday, January 21, 2014

indian food bowl - curry and beans something over black rice, with eggs and cheese na'an.
so good and perfect for a cold day.

Tuesday, January 14, 2014

delicious pasta m made with tomato sauce and smoked oysters. couldn't believe how delicious the sauce and everything was - such a good balance of umami and layers of something!

Friday, January 10, 2014

sometimes you need a good, big bowl of ramen. m made this from a pack of shin ramyun, with some leftover beef potroast we had on hand, egg, spinach, and frozen dumplings. it was beyond satisfying!

Thursday, January 9, 2014

hellllllz yeah to a fry up! m got really good at making delicoius fry ups - this time he made sure to make it properly with grilled tomatoes, which really balances out all the richness of flavors. overeasy eggs, baked beans, sausage (in lieu of bacon), grilled tomatoes and mushrooms, and delicious ciabatta roll toast. this never fails to satisfy us, be it for breakfast, lunch or dinner (today, it was lunch).

Wednesday, January 8, 2014

m and i made this concoction that lies somewhere between a kimchi jigae and yookgaejang -  mostly because of the addition of beef brisket pot roast (no we didn't cook this, it's a pre-cooked version from trader joe's, again). it's basically kimchi jigae, but because rarely is it made with beef (usually pork or fish like saury) that it reminded us of a very fast and loose version of yookgaejang.
with black rice, it was so good on a day like today, of 1ºF / -17ºC cold weather (even though the baby and i didn't make a step outside).

Monday, January 6, 2014

i call this m's special mac 'n cheese primavera.
mac 'n cheese, with peas, corn, kale, broccoli, cauliflower, and scallions.
i was craving something hearty/comforting and a lot of veggies at the same time, this was just perfect!

Sunday, January 5, 2014

hell yeah steak platter! tj's sirloin and amaaaaazing kale and cabbage stirfry by m.
wow wow wow @ the stir fry. couldn't have made the steak taste nearly as good without it.
pat pat

Thursday, January 2, 2014

m made us a curry bowl with mixed grain black rice, grilled chicken and naan bread.
mostly trader joe's ingredients - where would we be without tj's with a newborn baby!

Wednesday, January 1, 2014

mmmm trader joe's pulled pork with lots of veggies /salsa on brown rice tortilla!
so good.
happy new year!

Tuesday, December 31, 2013

a very uneventful new year's eve (i wasn't even aware of it until around noon -_-) - such is life with a baby!
but m continues to make me delicious meals everyday, it can't be easy twice a day, everyday. but he's been doing it for the past 2 months since little j was born.
today's lunch - corn/clam chowder with a sandwich (roast beef and turkey, half and half).
so hearty and yummy.

Saturday, December 28, 2013

another tortilla wrap/riceless burrito m made with some trader joe's cod filets, with spinach, tomatoes, black beans, and cheese. omg we don't need to go out for fish tacos anymore!

Thursday, December 26, 2013

tortilla wrap m made with the left over prime rib from christmas with hummus, cheese and greens.
so so good!!!

Wednesday, December 25, 2013

a mini feast for two (& the baby who can't eat these yet) for christmas m cooked up - and a feast it was!! prime rib of beef, sautéed kale & cabbage, mashed spiced potatoes and mashed sweet potatoes.
such a hearty, yummy christmas meal on baby's first christmas. :D

Tuesday, December 24, 2013

a simple christmas eve snack spread for baby's aunt and uncle in town.

Sunday, December 22, 2013

finally got a chance to get some korean food at café 232 (such a warm spring-like day!).
we got spicy cod fish soup (maeuntang) and spicy squid stir fry (ojinguh bokum), which we used to get frequently before baby - but as we noted on our last few meals, they swanked up their game but the food isn't as good as before. they have been going down a slow hill for a while but this time it really crystalized for us - it isn't worth it to eat ere anymore, sadly.

Thursday, December 19, 2013

m made indian food with trader joe's ingredients - tikka masala sauce and grilled chicken, as well as naan bread. he added a bunch of csa veggies which rendered a bit of water, thinning down the sauce a bit. i still thought it was really good, comforting like stew on a cold day.

Wednesday, December 18, 2013

it'd been a long time since we first/last tried waza ramen (and were subsequently disappointed) and thought we might give it another try. they had lunch specials so we thought it couldn't hurt much either.
the bento box set with salmon teriyaki was a good deal at $9, and wasn't half bad. the tuna set was obviously a bit too much tuna - overall, it was just ok, especially for the price. oh well!
